Emerge 8.1

28.01.2022 - 19.03.2022

Emilie Kvist and Cassidy Luteijn curated by Emily Goodbrand

‘Human experience is shaped by memories formed over time; simultaneously, memories over time can be shaped and changed by human experience. We understand our lives through the recollection of our memories, which are often altered in their recollection: changing, fading, or being molded over time. The work of artists Cassidy Luteijn, and Emilie Kvist presented in Art on Demand 8.1 address time and memory in two vastly different mediums.’

Mimi Looks for Mio

“I’m so thrilled to announce that my partnership with local Victoria author Filippa Bahrke is available for purchase!

It’s so surreal to think that over two years ago we met during a blizzard to discuss our dream for this book and it’s finally in full form! Along the way I fell in love with all the characters and their roles throughout the book both big and small. I can’t wait for you to read it!”

‘Mimi Looks for Mio’ is available through Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes & Noble.

’The scenes I have referenced as a jumping off point so far as part of my Nature of Painting series have mostly been specific to the Fraser Valley. Going forward I would like to explore cite-specificity through residencies which would allow me to travel and create work in different parts of the world. I moved up to Sasquatch Mountain Resort for the season and this mini-series has explored the snowy mountain ranges of Hemlock Valley.’

CITI/SEEN Downtown Mural Project

“This summer I have discovered mural painting and the fantastic adrenaline of a really REALLY large canvas. Setting my sights on developing my mural portfolio has allowed me to seek out the necessary experience to and I love that it has allowed me to meet so many amazing artists in the process.

You can check out “The Lake Within Me” down Bob Bos laneway in downtown Abbotsford behind Hemingways.”

Igniting Hope

“A virtual opening reception to celebrate the work of 23 artists, from coast to coast, using their art practice to ignite hope while encouraging awareness and action around climate change. Art helps us to process and understand the world around us, and when the artwork includes “narratives of hope” it helps people to engage and inspires action. This spring PoMoArts presents Igniting Hope, an exhibition with a focus on climate issues and the future of our rapidly changing planet.”
